September 26, 2012 in Uncategorized
The Mystic Dream, a metaphysical shop located at 1437 North Broadway in Walnut Creek, recently added Luna Pantera onto their staff. Luna Pantera has been a practicing Witch in the Bay area for over 20 years, a tarot reader for 22 years and a contributing part of the local Pagan community. As a priestess, Luna has worked with the Reclaiming tradition, Come As You Are Coven (CAYA), Magical Arts Ritual Theater (MART), The Iseum of Black Isis and created the Theater of the Ancestors. In addition, she is one of the contributing authors in the Shades of Faith; Minority Voices in Paganism anthology, with her piece Tapestry of the Soul.
With such an incredible presence in the Pagan community, Pagan Newswire Collective Bay Area asked Luna Pantera some questions about the services, style and skill she now brings to the Mystic Dream.
What inspired you to start doing readings at the Mystic Dream?
I had been doing readings for parties, the Hotel Serrano, and The End Up in San Francisco. I had started doing readings at my home office. And recently I had worked at the Jack London Night Market which was the first Friday in June and July. A good friend of mine informed me about an opening at The Mystic Dream for a reader, and so I send in my CV and was interviewed by both Chas and Storm, and gave a reading to Devin. I got a call later that night and I was told I had the job!!! The best thing about working at The Mystic Dream is that I’m learning more about: Hoodoo, crystals and their magikal qualities, and candle magik. I work as a sales associate Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after 6:00 and I love talking to customers and assistant them in what magikal tool/s they could assist them.
I’ve been a part of the Pagan Community since 1992. It all started when I had been looking to learn Tarot on a deeper level. A friend took me to a workshop that was horrid, but next door there was a metaphysical bookstore. As I was looking around “The Truth About Witchcraft” by Scott Cunningham literally fell at my feet! I bought it, and spend the next few days looking for where I could find out more on the Craft! I ended up at Field’s Bookstore in the City, saw a flier regarding the Winter Solstice Ritual with Starhawk and Luisha Teish, and two weeks later I was taking my first Elements class! The rest is herstory! I’ve been doing readings for close to 22 years.
What type of style do you have as a reader?
I connect to my client’s Higher Self. I let my client know that they are an import part getting the true meaning behind the reading. For my readings that are a hour or more I don’t touch the cards except to clear the energy in the start of the reading! My client picks the cards using their Higher Self and I help interpret them with my Higher Self. The Tarot Cards are the tool that I use, and usually I get a “sense” or “energy” from my client which is “filter and clarified” through the cards. My readings allow the person to take a good look at what is going on in their life along with the tools that can assist them, and what is waiting for them once they complete their journey.
Luna can be found at the Mystic Dream on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from noon until 6:00pm. Prices for readings are as follows:
15 minutes – $35.00
30 minutes – $70.00
45 minutes – $90.00
60 minutes – $120.00
