Local Musician Unwoman’s Upcoming Release Party

August 27, 2012 in Uncategorized

On September 19, 2012, Unwoman will be performing at the Uptown Nightclub in honor of her newest record release and her birthday.  The Uptown is located at 1928 Telegraph Ave in Oakland, doors open at 8 and the show starts at 9.

The new album, The Fires I Started, is Unwoman’s newest addition to her musical fans and the bay area scene. Unwoman, otherwise known as Erica Mulkey, is a local Bay Area musician that performs deeply moving music all over the United States.  She refers to her “aca-cello” music as a description of  the fusion of rhythmic and classic cello music and her deep, dramatic and soulful voice.

Unwoman played an intimate concert for a room full of local Pagans this past Saturday, August 25, 2012, after funding her most recent indigogo campaign.  Jonathan Blanton, a local bay area resident, was in attendance at last night’s event and referred to Unwoman as “uniquely entertaining”.

Unwoman’s performance Saturday night appeared to captivate a room full of Pagans with overwhelming sounds, humor and the ability to connect to her audience.

On the Unwoman website her music is described as “Layered with skillful cello, rich vocals, and electronically arranged beats, her solo music is a futuristic homage to her classical training.  Unwoman performs often in the Bay Area and has been featured at major steampunk, goth, sci-fi related events all over North America.”  This bio also states she has been playing cello since she was nine years old and started playing the piano at age eleven.

Whether it is her mysterious performances, steampunk vibe or incredibly artistic style that appeals to those of Pagan paths, Unwoman continues to deliver music that is enjoyed by many in the Bay Area Pagan scene.
