National Donate a Pagan Book Day

April 9, 2012 is  National Donate a Pagan book day.  This event is being sponsored by VinLand Foundation and Confessions of a Pagan Soccer Mom. This upcoming event is on a day during the National Library week where people are encouraged to donate Pagan books to public libraries or local Pagan community centers.  This years theme for the National Library week is “you belong at your library”.  Seems as if Pagans belong at the library too.

This event has been gaining momentum and is currently asking for listings of public libraries or Pagan community centers that are open to accepting donations of books.  On the National Donate a Pagan book day website it states, “By donating Pagan themed books, NDPBD hopes to show that Pagans also belong in the public library”.

To participate in this upcoming event by donating a book or supplying information regarding potential locations for donations, you can gather additional information from the website.

Witches’ Voice Turns 15 Today

The Witches’ Voice, otherwise referred to as Witchvox, turns 15 years old today!  This powerhouse website has supported information sharing and networking among Witches, Wiccans and Pagans for the last decade and a half, and has continued to be a staple in the Pagan community.

In honor of the incredible service that the Witches’ Voice has given to this community, Pagan Newswire Collective Bay Area would like to reprint the letter that was published this morning and extend a huge thank you to the faces behind the site.

PNC Bay Area Joins SOPA Blackout

Bay Area Pagan Newswire Collective will join PNC Minnesota, PNC Texas and the Capitol Witch on Janurary 18, 2012 in a website blackout to protest SOPA.  In protest of the House Bill SOPA and the Senate’s PIPA bill, Reddit announced their plan to blackout their site on this date and hundreds of other sites are joining the movement.  These two bills are focusing on the issues of online piracy but come with the potential for increased censorship, large fines, and the power to remove websites without a due process.

While there is a growing opposition for the SOPA and PIPA bills, there is always a concern that bills like this can continue to resurface and threaten the functioning of the internet as we now know it.
